2018 is here and it’s time to make some goals. But for them to be successful, I will give you 3 small little tips to accomplish your goals.
Every new year is the beginning of something new. It’s that time of the year, when we make a solemn resolve in our heart to do something big and make a mark in the world.
But as the months start passing by, we forget about the goals or get into a panic state for not having done anything about them. And by the time March or April comes, the goals become a thing of past.
If you have set the new year goals/ resolutions, make sure you have given a deliberate thought about it. And also you have discussed it with your partner – be it your wife, husband, girlfriend or boyfriend or anybody else who matters in your life. Their involvement also plays a huge part in the success.
So, here we go.
1. Be Realistic
If you have thought of running a 100 km this year and haven’t even yet run a half marathon, then it’s an unrealistic goal. You may, though, run it on pure will power, but you won’t enjoy the grind. So, you need to go gradually in it’s achievement.
In achieving this realism, firstly you need to know yourself. When you understand your capabilities and your environment in which you set out to accomplish your goals, they will be manageable to achieve. This is to ensure 100% chances of success!
You may have to weigh all the options and pitch them against one another, taking in consideration all the factors which may lead to it’s success or loss.
2. Break It Down
When you break down your goals into small chunks, then they don’t seem overwhelming and appear manageable.
Say, for example, you want to do a marathon or half, you make a training plan which increases gradually in difficulty level, then it doesn’t become daunting. Or say you want to earn a $1000 from blogging by the end of 2018, when you break it down to a monthly income, it comes down to $83.33 and further to a daily income, it comes to $2.77. Seems achievable, right?
So break down your goals to a daily, monthly, quarterly and half yearly basis. The chances of accomplishing your goals increases manifold.
Also don’t forget to review your goals every once in a while. Review the progress. If somethings aren’t working out for you, then you may need to take mid course corrections.
The next step is the most important one. Write the DAMN goals down. When you write it down, your mind automatically resolves to achieve them.
In addition, write them down where you frequently visit in your house. Stick it on your bathroom mirror, shoe rack, closet, kitchen, car etc. Be creative! The power of watching it daily makes the mind subconsciously work for it.
If you have read, Rhonda Brynes – The Secret, then you will understand the power of subconscious mind. It actually works!
Below is a short YouTube video I made on accomplishing your goals for 2018. And few additional tips at the end of the post.
1. Write Down Failures
You had set a goal last year that you need to lose weight, but failed. Then after introspection, you know the causes for its failure. Write the causes of failures too. What makes you weak, what makes you give in to the temptations and follow it like the 3rd tip above. Write it down where you can see it daily!
It serves as a reminder of what went wrong last year and for accomplishing your goals for 2018, you don’t repeat them. Makes sense, right?
2. Make It Public
Making your goals public, like I did in the video above, makes you accountable to all your family and friends. It’s quite a motivating factor.
Make it public on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram or wherever you like and keep updating the progress on it. It will make you work harder to achieve them.
At the end, life without goals, outside your daily routine, makes a dull life. Have goals and work hard to achieve them. I believe, when you hit your grave, you should be like “f#$k, that was one hell of a ride!”.
